Nut-Free Baklava with Sunflower Seeds and Honey

Ingredients
- 1 cup sunflower seeds, finely chopped
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 package phyllo dough (16 oz)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2. In a bowl, mix the finely chopped sunflower seeds with half of the sugar (1/2 cup) and set aside.
- 3. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out. Lay down one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish and brush it with melted butter.
- 4. Repeat layering with 7 more sheets of phyllo dough, each brushed with melted butter, then sprinkle a layer of the sunflower seed mixture over the top.
- 5. Continue layering 8 more sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each with butter, followed by the sunflower seed mixture, until all ingredients are used up, finishing with 8 layers of phyllo on top.
