Spicy Surge Soda BBQ Chicken Drumettes

Ingredients
- 2 kg chicken drumettes
- 2 cups Surge soda
- 1 cup ketchup
- 0.25 cup apple cider vinegar
- 0.25 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and set a wire rack on top.
- 2. Pat drumettes dry and toss with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and half the smoked paprika.
- 3. Arrange drumettes on the rack. Bake 20 minutes, turning halfway through.
- 4. Meanwhile, combine Surge soda, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne, and remaining paprika in a saucepan.
- 5. Simmer sauce over medium heat, stirring, until reduced by half and thick, about 10 minutes.
- 6. Remove drumettes from oven. Brush generously with Surge BBQ sauce.
- 7. Return to oven and bake 10 more minutes, basting once halfway, until sticky and caramelized.
- 8. Serve hot, with extra sauce on the side if desired.
