Budget Sardine and Pasta Meal

Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta (spaghetti or penne)
- 2 cans sardines in olive oil
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- 2. While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and add minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- 3. Add the frozen peas to the skillet and cook for another 3-4 minutes until heated through.
- 4. Drain the pasta, reserving a little pasta water, and add it to the skillet with the peas and garlic. Stir to combine.
- 5. Add the sardines (including the oil), lemon juice, salt, and pepper to the pasta and gently toss everything together. If the mixture seems dry, add a bit of reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
