Spicy Alfredo Penne Pasta
Creamy, classic Alfredo penne pasta with a medium-spice kick, perfect for a comforting, flavorful dinner.
Cuisine: Italian
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- 350 grams penne pasta
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 pieces garlic cloves
- 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 0.5 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook until al dente, about 10 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
- 2. Meanwhile, finely mince garlic. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add garlic and red chili flakes. Sauté until fragrant, 2 minutes.
- 3. Reduce heat to low. Add heavy cream, stirring constantly. Simmer gently for 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 4. Stir in grated parmesan cheese, black pepper, and salt. Continue stirring until cheese is fully melted and sauce is creamy.
- 5. Add drained penne to the skillet. Toss to coat in sauce, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency.
- 6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley and extra parmesan if desired.
